BIO
Elizabeth Fassler's passion for classical voice was cemented when she was selected to attend the Tennessee Governor’s School for the Arts in 2015. By the end of her high school career, she knew that her future belonged in opera.
In the 2016-17 season, Elizabeth began pursuing a B.M. in Vocal Performance and starred in the world premiere of the opera Healing by Sally Reid, performing the role of The Secretary, Sylvia. That same year, she was featured as a soprano soloist in Carmina Burana at Lipscomb University, establishing her presence in oratorio. Her work at Lipscomb continued in 2018 when she appeared as Jenny Parsons in Kurt Weill’s Down in the Valley.
2018 marked a year of immense growth for Elizabeth as she made her international debut with the Prague Summer Nights Young Artists Festival, starring in the choruses of Die Zauberflöte and Le Nozze di Figaro while covering the role of Barbarina. These performances took place at the historic Estates Theatre, where Mozart himself conducted. As a festival young artist, Elizabeth also appeared as a soloist in a concert of jazz standards at Prague’s Reduta Jazz Club, demonstrating her vocal versatility.
In 2019, Elizabeth made her professional U.S. debut in Nashville Opera’s Madama Butterfly (Chorus). In masterclasses, she has performed for composer Tom Cipullo and vocal coach Jelena Noskova (Czech National Opera). She completed her undergraduate degree at East Tennessee State University, in the voice studio of Karen Smith.
As a Master's student at IU, Elizabeth has performed in choral works such as Carmina Burana and Britten’s Saint Nicholas, as well as completing a Master's Recital. In her first year, she studied with Wolfgang Brendel, and is currently in the studio of Michelle DeYoung, where she continues to carve her path as a promising young singer.
